HUSBAND “PROVES’’ HIMSELF A FEMALE. LONDON, July 24. The “Morning Post s’’ Paris corresopndent states: An astounding divorc e suit was heard in the Courts The principal party was registered as a girl in accordance with a medi cal certificate of birth, but later, she developed male characteristics. When she married in 1921, she borrowed her brother's identity papers in order to overcome the legal oh stacle due to the fact that' she was officially of the female sex and the marriage thus took plane. The husband served in the war. and later his wife brought a ;<’ : tion for divorce, whereupon the husbanl produced his birth certificate arid forced the Court to hold that misconduct was impossible as both the parties were proved to be women. The wife's counsel pleaded that this was ah absurdity, but the Court pointed out that the civil code ordained that questions of this kind could not be considered after six months’ marriage.
