MAGISTRATE’S COURT
TUESDAY, JUNE 30th. (Before Mr W. Meldrum, S.M.. in a judgment summons ease, .. Kibblewhite v. Alexander Nordgreii, a claim for £l5 18s. Defendant stated that he was working at the mill at Nelson Creek and was getting sevevnteen shillings a day. It cost him about £3 a week to Jive. He was paying £1 a week oil’ a furniture account, and had other expenses as well. He was a married man with two children and could make no offer. If he spent the remaining £1 to pay off plaintiff, it would leave him (defendant very short. To His'Worship: lie still owed £55 on his furniture, and £8 on a bicycle. The latter he was paying off at fourteen shillings a month. lie was also paying off a debt to his father-in-law. His Worship said defendant was paying off other debts, and was ignoring that in connection with which judgment had been made against him 1 f’ourt. No order was made. No order was made in the case in which Lusk, Sproule and Morling proceeded against Alexander Nordgren. for £4 Ils 6d. F. Walshaw proceeded against Percy King for £lB 14s. Defendant stated that he had been earning £5 a week, and was paying 27s 6d a week rent. He was a mar- ' ried man, with a wife and family. Owing to slackness in trade (he was a master mechanic, he had been put off, work on Saturday. Under the circumstances his Worship made no order. A. L. Band was ordered to pay the sum of £8 to J. Suckling- Ltd., forthwith in default ten days’ imprisonment. The same defendant was ordered to pay to E. C. Ellis forthwith the sum of £5 2s in default seven days’ imprisonment.
