PARLIAMENT
ATMORE’S NEW MOVE. (Special to Argus.) WELLINGTON, Juno 30. Mr 11. Atmore (Nelson) gave notice in the House to-night of Ins intention to move an amendment to the Address-in-Reply. Speculation is rife as to whether it will refer to the necessity for the creation of a National Party. He did not indicate the form it would take. ANOTHER LIBERAL CAUCUS. WELLINGTON, June 30. The Liberal Party met in caucus this morning, and authorised their fusion delegates to confer further with the Reform delegates. When the conference has concluded the delegates will report to their respective parties. AMLLGAMATION AT ANY PRICE. LIBERALS’ DILEMMA. WELLINGTON, June 30. The tenacity with which the fusion negotiations arc hanging on suggest to me that either one side or the other is desperately anxious to bring about an amalgamation at any price. There was another hour’s consultation yesterday, this between the Committees which have-been representing the two sides for some time past. It is gathered that the liberals have given way on almost everything and that there is little left to argue over. It has been stated that there is a growing feeling that Reform is standing out against taking the Liberals into its fold, but this seems unlikely. . No Party is likely to wish to drive away new converts to its ranks, especially if the new converts desire to come in without making terms for their own benefit unless there are a few irreconeiliables in the Reform Party who can stand in the way. It now seems as though the Liberals are willing to amalgamation unconditionally. There were further negotiations to-day; but nothing to report was all that was announced.
