Mrs R. Lynn arrived on Saturday from Christchurch. Misses M. and N. Dawson, of Christchurch, are on a visit to Hokitika. Mr R. Summers, of Christchurch, arrived in Greyniouth last vening. Mr F. Bal dock, of left yesterday for Christchurch. ! Mr and Mrs R. H. liichniu.td, returned yesterday front Kotorua. Messrs E. Apted and O. Dale, of Barrytown. left yesterday for Dunedin. Mr J. Wearn. of the railway laeomotive department, left yesterday on transfer to Otira. Mr. T. Richards. o r f Barrytown, who lias been indisposed, is now on the road to recovery. Mr. R. Preston, who has been visit ing friends at Punakaikai has returned to Invercargill. Mr .1. D. Wingham, manager for the New Zealand League team, which is to tour Australia, will leave for Sydiiey on Friday. Mr V. Peters, of the Greyniouth Post Office Savings Bank has received notice of his transfer to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs G. T. Moss, of Christchurch, arrived by the express yesterday, and are the guests of Mr and Mrs C. G. Moss, Chapel St. Mr J. Kelly, of South Spit, Hokitika, will leave for Christchurch tomorrow morning to enter the Cashmere Hills Sanatorium. Mrs J. Brocklehurst, of Hokitika, suffered a paralytic stroke on Friday evening, but is now progressing as well as can be expected. Mr J. T. Petrie, sub-editor of the Southland Tinies, has been appointed assistant sub-editor of the Otago Daily Times.
Miss M. Goldingham, of Palmerston North, who has been visiting Mrs C. T. Broad, of Shakespeare St., left on her return home yesterday. Mr L. AV. Louisson has been gazetted Clerk of the Westland District Licensing Committee, vice Mr C. W. Carver, who has been transferred to Greymouth. Mr D. C. Burns, of the Railway Department, who has "been visiting the stations on the West Coast, returned to Christchurch by the express yesterday morning. Members of the Canterbury Automobile Association, arrived in Greyniouth last evening and proceeded to Hokitika. They were welcomed in Greyniouth by members of the local Association. Mr H. P. Olney, at the request ot the Buller Progress League, will re present the Barrytown branch of the Farmers’ Union on fhe delegation which is to wait upon Parliament regarding tho speedy completion of the Grey-Westport Road. A Honolulu cable states that Mr A. C. Caughey, of Auckland, member of institute of Pacific Relations, was taken to Queen’s Hospital, suffering from physical collapse. He had been attending all various preliminary meetings of the Institute, and was found ill on the Punahow School Campus by other members. [ Mr Douglas McKnight, of the Raill way Department, Westport, second 'son of Mr and Mrs J. McKnight, CowIper St., Greymouth, was married at StiJohn’s Presbyterian Church yesterday I by the Rev T. N. Cuttie, to Miss May pCroy, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs lA. Croy, of Westport. The bride wore [a tunic frock of fawn marocain with hat to match. A bouquet of pink flowers was carried. Miss Agnes McKnight, sister of the bridegroom, who acted as bridesmaid, was attired in a tunic frock of peacock green velveteen and black hat. Mr J. McKnight. -brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Miss B. Drake presided at the organ. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bridegroom's parents. The honeymoon is being spent in Dunedin.
