The ears are manned by Britishers and Portuguese. The Labour Controller reports that practically the whole population, exclusive of Chinese, some of whom have enrolled, have registered for essential services. Those registered comprise 24 nationalities. His Majesty's Cruiser “ Brisbane, and the American destroyer “Simpson.'’ have arrived at Hong Kong.

Thc Chinese Note to the AngloFrench Consuls, demands a British npoiogy and punishment of senior officers concerned, withdrawal of a ships from Kwamgtung waters, ex opting two despatch boats, and compensation for all Joss of life and property. The Note states it is known that the French did not fire first, but that hearing the British fire, the French also opened fire. It also states that an enquiry has begun with the American.
