UNDER SNOW

CANTERBURY’S COLD SNAP. CHRISTCHURCH, June 29. The weather here is still bitterly cold and wet. During the leek-end. there was a heavy fall of snow in the back country, with snow also well down on the plains. In the hills of the Peninsula there is also a coating of snow. Reports from Oxford to-day stated there is three inches of snow lying over that district. /Lyttelton at resent presents wintry aspects, as the hills are snow-clad from the Mount Herbert Ranges to Governor’s Bay. Rain prevented any work being done on the waterfront there this morning.
