OPEN VERDICT. DUNEDIN, J mu- 29. The coroner’s, inquiry into ihe ' Heunistancos of the death of \v illiani Jas Cochrane, aged .12. who was kill ed at Balelutha on June 11, wtieu lie was crushed between a dray and motor ear, reached finality al Milton tii'daiv, when Mr. IL -I. Dixon was , n the Bench. After hearing the evidence of the driver of the ear, Auliani Martin Heckler, and passenger, the Coroner said that in view of the fact that further proceedings nugm be taken, ho did not propose to make any comment. He would return .'.u open verdiet that the- deceased di>. a of injuries received on June 11 as 11 e result of being crushed between a dray and a motor car driven by V, ■■ liam Martin Heckler. DRIVER AND OWNER CHARGED. At the conclusion of the inquest -a, the boy Cochrane, the driver ol linear Heckler, and Carnegie the owner, were jointly charged with negligent driving, thereby causing the death ol the boy. They were reniandeu to appear at Milton on July Illi.
