FROM ROCK TO SEA. PRESSMAN’S DEATH. NEW PLYMOi'TH, June 29. James Scanlan, 19, on the “Herald” reporting staff, disappeared from near Hie summit of Paritutu on Sunday afternoon. He and a companion named! 'Stephenson had undertaken to climb , the rock, which is 900 feet high, and were quite close to the summit when •Scanlan, who xvas an experienced climber, decided to climb round a difficult rock, while Stephenson took the easier track. When the latter reached Hie summit a few minutes later, there was no sign of Scanlan, who appmcntly had missed his footing and fallen. Search parties were sent out and tvxo young men climbed the rock in the darkness, but found no trace. The search was resumed this morning whin signs of a fall were found, indicating that Hm body will be found in the sea. nt the base of the rock.
