SUICIDE. WAIHI, Juno 26. James MeEnteer, (56 years of age) committed suicide, apparently by placing a plug of gelignite in his month. Residents in the neighbourhood were startled by a loud explosion. Investigation revealed a headless body m the backyard. He leaves a widow and two married sons. WELLINGTON, June 26. At an inquest on Adam James Glasgow. law clerk, who collapsed ami died in a dentist’s chair ou Monday, during the course of a dental operation the Coroner found that Glasgow ' died from the effects of gas admini-st, red for a dental operation, while suffering from acute bronchitis and inflammation of the lungs. , AUCKLAND BUS QUESTION. AUCKLAND, June 26. Tin' City Council is advised by its ■solicitor that it could amend the bylaw in conformity with Judge Reed’s judgment, or go to the Court of Appeal. It was resolved that the by. law lie amended in accordance with the judgment, but buses will be excluded on certain holidays from Queen Stiect, when there is likely to be congestion . BLACKLISTED AS DEBTOR GISBORNE, June 2G. Au interesting action relating to the operations of the association known as the Associated Creditors League, was heard before Mr Lewy, S.AI.. when Mrs F. Clarke, of Gisborne proceeded against t/ie Associated Creditors’ League of Auckland for £si) for an alleged unfair blacklisting statenieut. The claim alleged that defendants circulated among business firms, a statement that plaintiff was indebted to persons unnamed for de. bentures, plaintiff ’s credit being thereby injured. Plaintiff declared that she was not indebted to anyone for debentures. She disputes a claim made by a dentist in connection with the extraction of teeth, and this means had been taken to force her to pay. The I'.'ise is proceeding. FIRE AT STRATFORD. STRATFORD, June 26. A house in the Borough owned and e iipied by Mrs Knudsen, was partially destroyed by fire early this morning. The fire had a good hold when the alarm was given. A strong wind was blowing, and endangered the adjoining' properties. The brigade made a good save, though the baek» portion of the building was destroy, ed, ami the contents of the front portion were ruined. The insurance on the building is £7OO, and on the furniture £2OO. Other furniture owned by her son.in.law, who also occupied th» house, is covered by a small policy.
