MAGISTRATE’S COURT
-MONDAY, JUNE 22. (Before Mr W. Meldrum, S.M.) Frederick Williams (for whom Mr W. J. Joyce appeared) pleaded not guilty to driving a vehicle after dark without a light. His Worship hold that the by-law had been broken, and he was fined five chillings and costs. , William Renmson, the proprietor of the Gilnur ILotel, was lined live shillings for allowing a chimney to be on lire. A number of men were charged with being on licensed premises after hours, and were dealt with in th* customary manner. David ALorrison offered the excuse that he entered a hotel on a recent Sunday for tin* purpose of having dinner, and not for obtaining a drink.,His Worship accepted the excuse as a reasonable one and dismissed Ihe case. | Colin Campbell, the proprietor of the I Recreation Hotel, was charged with ex. I posing liquor for sale, and selling liq. i nor on Sunday, June 14th. Defendant (for whom Air J. W. Hannan appeared) pleaded guilty and was fined x2 and costs. Similar charges were preferred against Patrick Crannitch (licensee of the Royal Hotel), and a like fine was inflicted.
