WORKERS’ COMPENSATION. GENEVA CONFERENCE. (Received, May 28th. at 8.30 p.m.) GENEVA, May 27 During the discussion on workmen’s compensation while considering the proposal of the Irish Free State, urg. ing the exclusion from -compensation schemes of non.manual workers, whose remuneration exceeded a fixed limit, Profssor McNeill (Ireland) asked the Committee to approve an amendment submitted by the employers’ group, which provided that those considerable salaries were v.U.I able to insure themselves and they would lose their sense of responsibility if they submitted to a general compensation scheme. . The Night'"Bakery Committee carried the amendments provisionally adopted bv the convention to the effect that the beginning and limit of the rest period shall bo fixed by a -competent authority in the country, after consultation with tho organisations of the employers and the workers.
