Lynde, who has been appointed to the position of Chief Mechanical Engineer of the New Zeal»<na Railways in succession to Mr. E. K. Gillon (retired) arrived in Wellington by the Ruahine from Southhamptou on Saturday. Air. Lynde, whose salary will be ,/U37 10s per year, began his ca r eer with the Great Central Railway in England. He is thirty seven years of age. and is married. He has one son. Serving his apprenticeship at the Gorton Workshops, Mr. Lynde remained there until a few years before the war, and was engaged for a shorr iod on private engineering work in Latin America.
