The scenery so far seen has been magnificent ,especially a remarkable series of great waterfalls. Ah' E. J. Alarriner, a member of the- party investigating the possibilities of the W'aimakariri glacier as a scenic resort, had a narrow escape on Sunday while fording tho main, stream of the Waimmkariri over -1000 feet above soai level.
