Queensland is sorely in need of population, particularly immigrants for the land where the Italians were willing- to go. The trouble was that they congregated in one or two districts, thus flooding the local market. The remedy lay in spreading them over a large area. Premier Gillies said tha« lie concurred with this view. AN EARLIER REPORT. BRISBANE, April 6. Further representations havo been made to the Federal Government by the Queensland Government in regard L) the alien influx. The Premier, Mr Gillies, said today that following on the decisions of tho State Cabinet on this matter, h? had sent a second urgent telegram to the Prime Minister conveying details of those decisions, and announcing that the State intended to appoint a Royal 'Commission to investigate the position. He had also urged that no further batches ot Italians should be sent here until tho Commission hnd investigated and reported to the Government. So far he had had no reply to either of the telegrams sent to Air Bruce; The Italian influx is the main topic of conversation throughout “Ttaliaiand,” and public feeling is strongly c gainst the Bruce Government’s enlIc.us apathy.
