Either Hidenburg would fail and then te dragged into a party feud, losing his nimbus or lie would achieve a Monarchist victory, in which case, thowgn considering himself bound by oath to the ex-Kaiser he would have to swear he would safeguard the Republic but when the first political crisis arose, Hindenburg inexperienced and ignorant of politics would shatter what had been accomplished in the direction of the pacification of Germany or shatter his own reputation as a strong hero.
