PEA RIFLE TRAGEDY. DUNEDIN. February 26 A distressing', fatality occurred, at Deborah Bay this afternoon, when a hoy named .Joseph Hugh Ledgerwood, syed fourteen years, was fatally shot with a pea rifle. The unfortunate lad and. his brother aged eighteen, were plavirig- with the rifle, which they did rot know was loaded. It accidentally exploded the bullet entering the younger boy’s stomach. The injured boy was conveyed to the Dunedin Hospital by a launch, and :4u [operation was performed in the hospital, but it was found that the bullet had entered a rftal spot and the hul succumbed.
