After the business of the ting was over, the officials ami players, with their supporters, held a smoke concert in Mrs Toll’s dining room. Ninet.v persons sat down to have a good night with song and story. Mr Watson presided over the gathering. He said that through some misunderstanding, the tup had not come to hand, so the 1 hist les went home without 1 lie handsome ( up that they had won that day. Ihe first toast of the evening was Jis Toll by the Chairman. He thanked Mrs Toll for donating the Cup, and said it was such donations which did so much tor sport. The evening closed by the company singing ‘‘Auld Lang Sync.” THISTLE v. GRA.XITY ATHLETIC. Thistle kicked off. ihe Granity forwards worked the ball down to the Thistle goal, and Shearer kicked by. The Thistle left wing men got control of the ball, ami went away at a great pace. The 'Thistle centre missed a good cross and Longstaff chut red. Shearer dallied too long in front of the Thistle goal, and the backs cleared the ball out. Give and take play followed. Thistle set up a hot attack, and after forcing two corners, the centre forward scored a great goal. The Granity forwards got going, but a good chance was spoiled by off-side play. Thistle again got into stride. A mis-kick by Longstaff gave Thistle a great chance, ami a second goal was counted to them. Granity now livened up. A. corner was forced, and from the kick in, Shearer beat. Smith. Half time score: 'Thistle 2 Granity I. In the second half, play opened in a free and easy style. 'Thistle put. on a spurt, ami Granity goal had some narrow squeaks. The forwards shot badly with only Chippendale to beat. 1 Granitv players again livened up. and 1 the Thistle defenders were kept busy.. Anderson got- the ball from a clearingkick, beat Longstaff, and . darted up the right wing. His splendid cross was taken by Phillips, who headed through the goal. 'Thistle. 3 Granity 1. The Granity players worked with all their might, but a very muddy ground and II determined opponents held them at bay. The game ended with the. scores unaltered.
