REFORM v LABOUR. PARR SAYS “FIGHT SOCIALISM?’, (Special to Argus) WELLINGTON, July 29. Speaking in the House, Hon Mr Pnrr said he thought the great issue w:is going to be, not between Reform and Liberal, but the great issue would be on the question of Socialism. Reform he wa- the only serious bu! wark against Socialism, and, on tha 4 ground, had a claim to public suppori. Mr Holland: 4: A very slender claim” Another Labour Memb-r: ‘‘That will never save you!” Mr Parr said that what Reform was out against was the Socialism of Karl Marx and they asked for support on 1117* ground that they were a sure shield of defence against it. A voice: “If you are the only defence God help you!” Mr Parr: “We will defend as long as we can!” A Labour Member: c ‘That won't br long. ’' Mi Parr invited the Liberals to join with Reform in fighting Socialism. There wore M- mbers on that side of the House, he said who should be with the Reformers fighting Socialism. Mr Sullivan: 41 You recognise them as brothers?” Mr Parr: “Oh certainly, and I think the honourable gentleman does too!” Mr Sullivan: “Hear, Hear!”
