CROWN WINS APPEAL. IN MALFROY CASE. (Per Press Assn). WELLINGTON, July 29. Tho Full Court to-day allowed an appeal in the case The King v. Malfroy heard on July 24, holding that the Warden had no power to amend a sawpnill license after it had been completed and issued, by altering the rate of royalty payable under such license. The Southland Sawmill Workers’ Union decided vigorously to protest against the importation of foreign timber, and to bring the matter before the Premier and the Labour I.eadTt was stated that Hie price of Baltic spruce butter boxes imported from Sweden, was below the cost of production of white pine, due to the lower wages. Unless something was done, it was contended, a large number would become unemployed.
