QUEENSLAND LABOUR
DISPUTE IN CAUCUS. OVER RAILWAY PAY AND HOURS CABINET TENDERS RESIGNATION (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.) BRISBANE, July 29. Trouble has. arisen in the ranks of the Labour Party over the question of the forty-four hours’ week for State employees. At a caucus meeting, the Premier (Mr Theodore) opposed the abolition of a 5 per cent, reduction in wages, and the return to tho 44 ‘hours’ week, on account of the enormous cost. Considerable disturbance occurred, during which Mr Theodore and the. Cabinet resigned. Owing to the difficulty in forming a new Ministry, it was decided that, the old Cabinet should withdraw its resignation io see what could be done in regard to the matters in dispute. On his return, Mr Theodore again presided until tho meeting ent|ed. Matters have apparently simmered down,„ hut it is stated that tho bilitv of a crisis is not over.
