MINERS BOYCOTT SHOW
As evidence of the far-r c acliing elect of what might at first appear to be a. trivial matter, we quote ‘join a letter just received from a country exhibitor not one hundred miles fioin Sydney. b
‘‘l am anxious to dispose if my show, much against my inclinations 1 can assur L > you. I was doing a. <_Jeat business until recently, when the min-
ers came out of the non union pit and struck for a union. 1 had a young man who worked in the pit during the day and was my doorkeeper on ibe nights which I .screen. Because he re-
fused to join the union, and I could not compel him (nor would 1 discharge him at their request— they Maukballed me, sending my usual profits from about .CIS weekly to under ,C 5. Although business is now a bit better my opposition— a far inferior show—
is securing most of the miners’ support. It vvill need a. now proprietor in my show to get the business back.’ Certainly a tragedy!
