Air and Airs 11. Gilmer (Raupo) were visitors to town yesterday. Air Roy Reid, of Blenheim, who has been visiting the Coast for the past week returns on Thursday. Aliss Bell, who has been on a holiday visit to AVanganui, returns by this evening’s express. Air and Mrs Carter, of Christchurch, are visiting Air and Mrs Strong, of Reefton Railway Station. Airs J. Alorris, of Rcefton, who has been seriously ill, is showing a marked improvement in her condition. The death occurred at Wellington on Sundry of Air Charles Hill, well known in musical circles. Mr Cecil Carter, who has been stationed at Reefton for the past IS month--, has been transfeirfU to Greymouth. Dr J. F. C. Moore takes over duties as medical superintendent of the Grey River Hospital in a fortnight’s time.

A Reuter’s cablegram from London anounced the death of the Rt. Rev. J. E. AVatts Ditchfield, the first Bishop of Chelmsford. Mis E. He was 88 years of, age, and formerly was a miner at Brunner. His wife died some years ago. Air F. 11. Denton (Town Clerk) leaves this morning for AVellington to attend the conference of municipal bodies. In 1874 he married the eldest daughter of the late Alfred Chetham-Strode. R.AL, of Dunedin. In 1866, he was elected to the Provincial Council of Otago for Dunstan district; 1877, member of the first Vincent County Council: ISB3, chairman (continuously re-elected until 1893); 1893, Afember of the House of Representatives for Wakatipu electorate. Subsequently he was appointed to the Legislative Council, and received a Knighthood.
