DISPUTE OVER LADIES’ VISIT. CHRISTCHURCH. May 26. At the council meeting of the Swimming Association last evening, a motion was carried calling upon the Auckland Centre to show cause why it should not be suspended for failing to comply with the demand to supply minutes of meetings. Tho trouble arose over the visit to New Zealand of Misses Wylie and Venning. It is stated that the trip was arranged without the Council of the Association or the Australian Union being consulted. A letter was read from the Australian Union protesting against the •trip being arranged by the Auckland Centre instead of through the proper channels. The opinion was expressed at the meeting that though the Council would have to deal with the Centre on the matter, the Centre was not really to blame, and probably had not been consulted by the individuals who arranged the trip. The Secretary reported that the demands made to the Secretary of the Auckland Centre for the production of the minutes had failed to elicit any response. Members declared that the President and Secretary of the Centre were defying the Council.
