BOXING.

Grey Association. A meeting of the Greymouth Boxing Association was held last night, presided over by Mr J. Wilson. A letter was received from Nutty Fairhall, asking for a fight under the local Association. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of Air Wilson, to interview Fairhall when in Wellington. Fairhall comes to New Zealand with a splendid Australian record, having gained victories over Uren, Hill, Preston, Brogan, Finney, Kelly and Ryan, also fighting a 20round draw with the American lightweight 11 unifield. Fairhall is accompanied by Pat Conners, the well known manager of the late Frank Griffen. The West Coast Championships were fixed for June 16, nominations for which close on June 2. The winners of the various bouts will represent the Coast at the South Island Championships, which will probably be held at Ashburton. An important step in New Zealand boxing was the reduction of centres from 13 to six, brought about by the Auckland Association’s proposal. Greymouth has been appointed centre for the West Coast, including Blenheim and Nelson. The first centre committee on the Coast will comprise Messrs 1). McKay (chair), J. Stenhouse, F. C. Wade, G. Millar and M. Keating (secretary). The above gentlemen are to be congratulated on their appointment, and will be certain to prove an impartial and progressive asset to boxing on the Coast. It was decided to increase the membership of the local Association from 30 to 70. The procedure for election is to bo nominated by a member of the present Association and ratified at the general meeting, the accompanying fee being two guineas. Action By Otago Body. DUNEDIN, May 10. A general meeting of the Otago Box ing Association was held to-night, to consider what steps should be taken in view of the disqualification of the Executive by the New Zealand Boxing Council. The President and Executive decided to resign in a body, and a new chairman was appointed for the meeting. A provisional committee was then set up from the members of the Association not concerned in the disqualification, and the meeting then authorised this provisional committee to apply for re-affiliation to the Boxing Council.
