HANDICAPPER HENRYS.
Gets Through to Christchurch CH ItISTCII I’la’ll, M.-iy 10. A party, including J. E. Ilenrys, the handicapper, had a memorable journey from the West Coast yesterday. They 'oft Greymouth on Tuesday morning ind soon ran into snow at Milliken’s, which stuck uo the cars. It took nearly an hmm to cover four chains of ground. The deepest snow on this oart of the road was 3ft. and it had o b“ shifted away by the passenger* : »y means of their hands, as no impleneats were available. Darkness now ame on, and when the cars were able o proceed the drivers had great diffi--ulty in sticking to the road. Next norning (Wednesday) the two cars vere abandoned at Porter’s Pass, owing to the snow making it impossible io proceed, ami the party were picked in by a big Cadillac car sent out from Christ church.. The passengers relate hut Mr Ilenrys walked miles through the snow with one of the little girls on his hack.
