SMUGGLING: 7ROM SYDNEY L2AT. WELLINGTON, October 16. Last week, a seaman named llemus, was convicted of smuggling opium. Today a Chinese, do • Lain, v.as convicted of having two tins of opium in his possession. The | olive stated that the opium was part of wl.at llemus smuggled from ll.e Idimarou. Accused was fined £4O with costs, lie was also fined I £lO with costs fur being in possession of a firearm, namely, a revolver, which ' Lie police found fully funded on a tabic., nea r his bed.
