The rebels are now falling back on Cork city. They are hotly pursued by General O’Duffy’s Free State torees. which are now within striking distance of Cork city. The rebels in the West of Ireland are also retreating, before a steady and well-planned advance. Business has been fully resumed in Waterford and Limerick, but the country surrounding tho latter city is disturbed, and infested with roving or raiding bands of rebels who are billeting themselves in farmhouses. In Dublin, some armed raiders shot dead two men and critically wounded a third, who attempted to prevent their looting a public-house in the vicinity of Phoenix Park. The murderers escaped with £93. LONDON. July 24. The retreating Irish rebels are making pursuit difficult by blowing up bridges and blocking roads. The Cork rebel leaders are having great trouble in preventing their followers, who are tired of the rebellion, from leaving the country. Parties of rebels board all vessels sailing for Liverpool, seizing anv deserters found aboard.
