REWANUI NOTES.

(Our Own Correspondent.) The Rewanui United Soccer Football Club, held their second social and dance of the series which they are now running, in the Minors’ Hall, on Saturday night, am! a most enjoyable evening was spent by a large number of the hill top people; also many friends from Runanga. It says much for the sportsmanship of the Runanga lads, that they will conn* up here, not only for a night’s enjoyment, but by their contributions of song and jollity, to help fun along in no mean manner. Among those present 1 noticed Mesdames: Allow, Burgess, C:.irns, Dimsdale, Fisher, McTigh, Oakley, Rutherford, Scott. Misses Campbell (2), Cooke, Hilton (2), Oakley. Messrs Caldwell (2), McPhca (2), Cowman, W. Page, W. Parsonage, A. Patterson, E. Boote, J. Lowe, from Hunanga; W. O'Brine, (Dunollie), Scott, Oakley, Rutherford, McAlivey, Bodjer, Steel, Daniels, McTigh, O’Donnell, Hilton (2), Auld, O’Connor, Burgess, English, Morley and the geni: J Mick Graniseh. Refreshments were supplied and served by the ladies The following contributed songs:—Mrs Rutherford, and Alessrs Page. Boobe, Cairns, Lowe, Cowman, Daniels, Patterson, McPhca, Auld, and Brown. Recitations were given by Messrs Parsonage, Cairns end Cowman. Good music was supplied by Messrs Cairns and Campbell; extras being given by Messrs Caldwell and Patterson. M.C.’s duties were carried out by Captain G. Brown and everything went with a swing, even Dame Nature doing her bit, by sending a nice shower k* cool the dancers off on their way home. The United Football ground is now in good going order, in fact it keeps going in such quantities, on the clothes ami persons of the players, that tho surface has lowered quite noticeably alread.- . I heard one player say that he had . ampled all kinds of mud, but that this was the best he had ever tasted; ami barring a little difficulty in removing it from his back teeth after a game lie h; dn’t a fault to Hud with it. However with the help of those two old friends Patience and Persevereneo w9 hope by next season to have a passable playing ground, and if not high class, it will at any rate be high enough for anyone.
