BENEFICIAL RAIN.
DOWNPOUR IN NEW SOUTH WALES. SYDNEY, July 23. There has been heavy ram, with a strong easterly blowing for the past couple of days. It still continues, and shipping is sheltering. The rainfall is widespread, including considerable portions of the wheat and western areas, making greatly improved prospects for th-e backward spring crops.
