NOTES. The Orepuki arrived yesterday morning from Lyttelton. She brought a small quantity of general cargo, on the discharge of which the vessel will load timber for Lyttelton. The Progress arrived yesterday morn- i ing from Picton. She loads coal and ’ timber for the same port, sailing tonight or to-morrow. The Ngakuta arrived last evening from Lyttelton via Westport. The vessel will load coal for Wellington. The Kamo is due from Lyttelton and Westport and southern ports. The Titoki is due to-day from Wanganui and Wellington. After discharge the vessel will load coal for Dargavillo. The Regulus is due here to-morrow from Wellington, Nelson and Westport with general cargo. After discharge, she loads coal for Picton. The following telegram has been received by the District Collector of Customs (Mr Oxford): —“ Advise masters of vessels to look out for cable buoy, moored in middle Cook Strait. Karori rock light bearing 98 true ten and a-half miles.” | A Christchurch message states that I the Canterbury Company’s steamer 1 Gale, while arriving at Wanganui on j Wednesday morning from Wellington,
got out of tire channel in the river, and stuck fast. She refloated in the afternoon, and berthed at the wharf. In consequence of the recommissioning of the Chatham Islands Fishing Co.’s steamer Rama, the following officers signed on th-e vessel: —Muster, Captain E. Cartner; chief officer, Mr G. D. Parminter; second, Mr C. West; chief engineer, Mr W. G. Morrison; second, Mr G. T. Duncan; third, Mr W. Watson. (Mr Parminter is well-known Ou the Coast). TELEGRAMS. WELLINGTON, July 24.
