MORE IMMIGRANTS.
ALLEN CONCLUDES NEW ARRANGEMENT. [A. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received July 23, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. July 22. Sir James Allen (New Zealand High Commisisoner) has practically concluded a migration agreement for emigrants to New Zealand. He is now only awaiting Colonel Amery’s signature on behalf of the Overseas Settlement Committee. This agreement, to -some extent, follows the Australian agreement, with a modification to meet New Zealand’s special conditions. For instance, it provides for a maximum expenditure of £400,000. This expense shall be equally shared by Xew Zealand with Britain. It is similar to the Australian agreement, but Sir James Allen explains that the actual expenditure, probably, will not exceed half the Australian total, it is anticipated that New Zealand’s immigration from Britain this vear will be considerably below last year’s number, which totalled 10.000.
