T'. <• Irregulars are making elaborate defensive, preparations in Cork. Hotel visitors have been turned out, and luggage commandeered for barricades. Steamship services from Liverpool and Glasgow to Limerick are suspended, owing to the danger of looting and sniping which vessels may be subjected to. Mayo is reported to be on the brink of famine. No vessels are arriving there. Several bridges have been blown up in the south and west of Ireland, including one across the Shannon River at Portumna, which cost a hundred thousand. The Irregulars are looting foodstuffs and commandeering vehicles in the Midlands and Northern Ireland. FURTHER REPORT. (Received July 20, 8.50 p.m.) LONDON. July 19. Later reports state heavy fighting has been in progress in Limerick to-day. Sniping was general, and many citizens were wounded. The Free Staters are besieging King John’s Castle, where the rebels are holding ont, as the military barracks weix destroyed by lire. Six Republicans were killed. REPORTED DESIRE FOR PARLEY. LONDON, July 19. It is reported that the Irish Irregulars are s-eeking a peace parley. DUBLIN DAMAGE CLAIMS. LONDON, July 19. The Recorder in Dublin awarded £45,150 damages to ‘‘Freeman’s Journal” against the Dublin corporation for the destruction of premises by the Republicans on March 29.
