BIRTHDAY “HONOURS.” A MOTION REJECTED. CAPETOWN, July 15. Colonel Crosswell took his seat in the Assembly as Leader of the Labour Party. The Senate rejected Mr Reitz's motion arising out of xthe recent adverse comment on the awarding of birthday honours. The motion provided that in future the < • ment should neither recommend, con sent to, nor rccognis-e titles of whatever sort from outside on citizens of the South African Union. The Minister for Justice said that if the motion were confined to hereditary titles, ho would bo inclined to accept it, but not in its present form.
