TIPTON EXPLOSION.
OFFICIAL GETS FIVE YEARS. LONDON, July 11. In connection with the Tipton explosion, Knowles was sentenced to live years’ imprisonment, and Chadwick was discharged. (An explosion occurred at Part Tipton, Staffordshire, killing .several girls and injuring others who were removing th-c contents of 160 tons of cartridges. The explosion occurred white the contents were being put into a separate receptacle, and blew off th-o roof. Tho wholo of the 50 girls in the room were blackened, beyond recognition. All the clothing of many of them was torn off the bodies and the hair burned off the others. Knowles the husband of the factory owner, and Chadwick, tho manager, were charged with manslaughter.)
