LABOUR WORLD.

COMMONWEALTH STEAMERS. WALSH REPLIES TO WILSON. SYDNEY, July 15. Mr Tom Welsh (secretary of the Australian Seamen's Union) explains the reason of the cable which he yesterday received from Mr Havelock Wilson (sec retary of one of the British Seamen’s Unions) asking if he (Walsh) intended to reply to a message of Wilson’s.

Wilson’s query, he says, refers to a protest made by Wilson against the Federation of Seamen’s Union’s, action in debarring the members of the British National Seamen’s Union (Wilson’s)

from retaining positions on the Com monwealth steamers.

Mr Walsh added that he has already twice replied to Havelock Wilson, by letter and by cable to that effect.
