AMUSEMENTS.

RAILWAY BALL. The railway ball which was hold in the Town Hall last evening was largely attended. A novel idea was introduced in the decorations of the hall, flags were hung from the circle, and greens decorated the walls, but tho stage was attired in purely railway stylo. A feature of the decorations was a large engine lamp placed in tha centre of the stage, supported by two or three smaller lamps, whilst the dance board took the form of a semaphone signal post the signal at'“safe” portraying the name of the dance. Excellent music was provided by Mr W. Williams’s orchestra and several extras were played by members of the gathering. Supper was provided by the ladies and much enjoyed. A large number of ladies wore evening dress and the effect produced by the soft light of the railway lamps was very attractive, Mr De Freatus acted as M.C,
