CANTERBURY NOTES. Training operations are being carried on at Addington with a view to the Metropolitan Trotting Club’s August meeting. For several days past the course proper has been closed, and all work lias been done on the training track, whicli is in good order. Among those training on this track are several rising three-year-olds. D. Bennett was down from Baisweil with a gelding by Great Audubon from a Harold Dillon mare, which acquitted itself well, showing both, speed and stamina. A. Cox drove tho half-sister to Turmoil by Nelson Bingen from Necritte, over several circuits, and in spite of more than one break she showed a useful turn of speed, and looks like coming to hand early. A filly by Harold Dillon from a Wildwood Junior mare, driven by J. H. Wilson, covered a mile and a half without making a mistake. She has good action in front, but there is room for improvement behind. Whispering Willie is being given some solid work by J. 11. Wilson. The son of Woodland Whispers and Gossip shapes well. A three-year-old filly by Great Audubon from a Singlestick mare, recently trained by A. Cox, has been sold to a patron of A. G. Wilson’s stable, New Brighton. Bonny Logan has eased off and will not race till the spring. Turmoil has been returned by T. Holmes to her owner. D. 'Withers is working a large team including Coil, Silver Princess, Gladeye, Prince Athol, Okiiti, George Gratton, and three well bred maidens. J. .1. Kennedy’s trio, Pedro Pronto, Lincoln lluon ami First Fashion are getting through a lot of useful work. Vice Admiral is reported to be in good fettle and will contest the principal two mile races on each day ol tho August meeting.
