DAMAGES CLAIMED.
FIRES DUE TO BUSH ENGINES. HAMILTON, June IS. A civil action to recover £2OOO damages for alleged negligence, was commenced at tho Supreme Court before Mr Justice Herdman and a jury. The. paintiffs are Elsie JS. Seiver and another The defendants are Ellis and Burnand. Tho ease arose out of damage done by a fire to plantiffs’ land near Ongarue the plaintiffs alleging the tires were caused by sparks from the defendants busj) tram engines. Tho defence was a denial of responsibility, or, alternately that, if they are responsible, the damages are grossly exaggerated. The ease is proceeding.
