ROUTLEDGE ASSAULT

PRISONERS GUILTY. VERDICT OF THE JURY. (Per Press HAMILTON, June 15. The Supreme Court continued, the case of Herbert Holgate, Alfred Glover, Leonard Grundy and Richard Daly, who were charged with attempting to murder William Thirwell Routledge at Kopaki on March 18; with assaulting him with intent to do grievous bodily harm; with doing him actual bodily harm; and with assaulting him. The latter three charges were also preferred against them in relation to Janies Courtney. The Jury, after a retirement of three hours, returned a verdict of guilty of doing Routledge actual bodily harm, but 1 disagreed regarding the Courtney charges. Sentence is deferred. It was mentioned during the case that Courtney is claiming £5OO damages in a civil action against the prisoners.
