The Russian Soviet Government, replying to the Archbishop of Canter bury, who made a protest, denies there has been : n organised attack upon the Russian church. The Archbishop of Canterbury has replied to Russia, refusing to withdraw his charges, but he requests permission .to send a representative delegation ■‘:o'n the British churches to Russia to exanune tho situation. SOVIET’S REPLY. LONDON, June 7. In the Rusian Government’s reply regarding the treatment of Russian Churchmen, the Soviet says the Russian Patriarch Tikhon’s group has been working with The Czar’s bureaucracy and nobility. The Soviet adds that it considers the Archbishop of Canterbury’s protest was due to narrow caste solidarity. The Archbishop of Canterbury, in a further note, reiterates his protest and his request for permission for a small committee of English Churchmen to visit Russia to examine the situation.
