WANTED—A REST-ROOM.
(Te the Editor). Sir.— During the last few months it has gradually daAvned on me that th. average Borough Councillor ami muni cipal official has as much regard for the well-being ami couvenieuce of mar ried women, as a Hottentot or Queens land black has for the sanitary require ments of a modern city. Being a mar ried man, Avith a home in the suburb and no friends within a few hundred yards of the Town Hall, I find that if my Avife desires, say, ;to shop in thafternoon and to stay in town for a) appointment at perhaps 8 p.m., there' i> no place Avherc the few intervening hours may be spent. A married Avoman currying an ‘‘encumbrance” is appar ently of fur less importance than a single man. If she should, perchance endeavour to leave her perambulator ii. tlie Tgwh Hall, she is met by an at tcmlant Avith an intimation that such things must not be left in its sacred precincts. Then again there is no place for a Avoman to put in a few hour: with a baby. AVake up. Greymouth ami demand tint womcn-folk receive treatment at least equal to what Avouhl be received from a controlling body composed of Hottentots!—l am, etc., REST-ROOM.
