WESTPORT NOTES.

(Our Own Correspondent.) The Borough Inspector along with a couple of the local police force, made a raid the other day on cattle wandering in the southern outskirts of th? town. The usual prosecutions will follow. The resignation of Mr A. C. Cottrell from tb.e board, ami the desire of the Borough Council to have representation at the table has altered the outlook generallv, and created the probability of there being a full muster of representatives when this tender contract, business, which has been hanging for so long, will be brought to a final and definite conclusion. The District High School girls met the pupils of St. Mary's College in a I gnine of bosket ball at the Convent [ Grounds on Monday afternoon. St. Mary’s proved themselves the superior team by far, scoring 2<> to the High School's half-dozen. Miss C. Martin was the driving force! of St. Mary’s team, and her sister Florence the unerring goal scorer for the team. Referee honours were divided between Miss T. Snisted (W.D.H.S.) and Miss A. Lee (St. Mary's;. At the conclusion of the game, the visiting team were treated to a dainty afternoon tea in one of the school rooms of the | college.
