FATAL ACCIDENT.

DUX EDIN, June 3. A young nv n, Philip Henry Turnbull, employed at the Genera!' PoM Office, and residing with his parents at Main Road, Morniiigtuii, was killed while engaged in excavating a section in Moj ningtoji on Saturd-y. Deceased was 23 years of age. He was carrying out the excavation, being assisted by William Arthur Thomas, who was accompanied by his two children. Thomas saw the bank giving way, amt shouted a warning to Turnbull. The bank collapsed. The falling earth struck the barrow which Turnlmll was filling, and the barrow bounced back and-fractured his skull. The children and Thomas were both pinned down in th .* debris, but were extricated uninjured. A doctor was called in, but, cm firriv.a!, he could only pronounce Turnbull dead.
