Says the Wellington “Dominion’’: —“A football family:—S. IL Wogan, the captain and first five-eights of the Selwyn senior team, hails, as do many of his club mates, from the West Coast of the South Island, : nd is a member of a well known footballing family down there. His brother, it. S. Wogan, represented the West Coast in pre-war days, in the Seddun Shield games against Marlborough and Buller, as a wing forward. He also pl: yed in the Divisional Signallers’ team in England. ‘‘Larry’’ Wogan is at present playing inside centre for Western Suburbs, Sydney, and has represented New South Wales for many years, incidentally being a member of the term that visited here last season. He was a member of the Australian representative team that toured America. Alan Wogan, onetime secretary of the Selwyn Club, and wing three-quarter for their senior team is now pl: ying in that position for Excelsior seniors in Hokitika. Neil Wogan skippers the Hokitika District High School team, playing at second five eights. Ho also plays in that position for the Excelsior senior team in Hokitika. “Bill” Wogan, the yoiingest brother skippers a fourth grade team, the Uniteds, in the home town, and is a half-back.
