INANGAHUA MINERS.
(Sepciaj to ‘ Argus’’). REEFTON, May 29. A special general meeting of the Inangahua Miners’ Union was held in the Princess Theatre on Sunday, May 28, when the terms of the settlement reached at flic round table conference were submitted to tile meeting. After the whole of the proposed alterations had been discussed, it was decided that these be adopted, and that the new agreement he*, signed on behalf of the union, the period of such agreement to be for two years. Tho hours on back Saturday were, fixed at, day shift seven hours, ami back shift six hours. The machinery clauses of the old agreement remain unaltered with the exception of the tool clause, and in this, provision has now been made for an allowance of 3d per shift to workers using their own tools. WAGE RATES. The following art' the rates fixed under fhe new agreement: —Coal miners 17/2, shot firers 17/2, shiftmen! 16/1, pumpmen 16/7, truckers 15/-, general blacksmith 18/-, first-class stationary enginedriver .18/-, carpenters 17/1, tool sharpeners 15/-, general labourers 14/3, motor lorry drivers .15/-, horse drivers 15/-, locomotive drivers 18/-, locomotive firemen 15/-. Employees working on the afternoon and night shift to bo paid 5d and lid respectively in addition to the above rates. CONTRACT. Hewing coal in solid workings.—Nos. 2 and 3 seams, sft and over 4/2 per ton; under sft to 4ft Gin, under 4ft Gin to 4ft, 4/10; under 4ft to 3ft Gin, 5/9; under 3ft Gin to 3ft, 6/5. No. 4 seam: sft and over 3/2 per ton; under sft to 4ft Gin, 3/4 { |; under 4ft Gin to 4ft, 3/10; i.rider 4ft to 3ft Gin, 4/9; under 3ft Gin to 3ft, 5/5. Pillar Workings.—No. 2 seam and No. 3 seam: 3ft to 3ft Gin 5/9 per tun; 3ft Gin to 4ft, 5/01}; 4ft to sft Gin, 4 z 2; sft Gin to 6ft Gin 3/111; 6ft Gin to 9ft, 3-SA; over 9ft, 3/7;. No. 4 seam: 3it to 3ft Gin, 4 9 per ton; 3ft Gin to 4ft, 4/02; 4t’t to sft Gin, 3/2; sft Gin to 6ft Gin, 2/11 ;; Gft Gin to 9ft, 2/8A; over 9ft, 2/71. Tops, classed as Pillar Workings.— No. 2 and 3 seams: Whcro lops are being worked out in bords tin* following rates shall apply. Any thickness down to 3ft Gin 3 S per ton, under 3ft Gin to 2ft Gin, 4.2 per ton. I’nder 2ft Gin height shall be a deficient place. No. 4 seam: Where tops are being worked out in bords the following rates shall apply—Any thickness down to 3ft Gin 2/8 per ton; under 3ft Gin to 2ft Gn, 3/2 per ton; under 2ft Gin, shall be a deficient place. Bottoms. —No. 2 and 3 seams: Where bottoms are being worked out in bords the full width, any thickness down to 3ft Gin 3/8 per ton; under 3ft Gin down to 2ft Gin, 4/2 per ton; under 2ft Gin shall be a deficient place. When taking up bottoms from 12ft to 9ft wide 1/4-A- per yard, from 9ft to Gft wide 2/8A per yard. No. 4 seam: When taking up bottoms in bords the full width, any thickness down to 3ft Gin, 2. SA per ton; under 3ft Gin, down to 2ft Gin, 3/2 per ton. Under 2ft Gin to be a deficient place. AVhen taking up bottoms from 12ft to 9ft wide, 1/4A per yard, 9ft to Gft wide 2/381 per yard.
