WAIUTA NOTES.

(Our Own Correspondent.) The concert staged on S-HRDlay last by the Waiuta League Football Club proved a great success. The hall was packed and the audience highly apjw ciatvd the splendid prograivrAe arranged by Mr J. Bertie, of Rcefton, assisted by several local “stars.” The club wish to thank all who assisted to make the function such a huge success, cspcci- ; ally Mr Bertie and his company of minstrels, who journeyed from Reefton to help the club. There was £2l taken at the door. The dance which followed was also largely attended, everybody having a good time. The League Football Club intend to hold a similar entertainment at a later date. The programme (first half i was as follows: — Song, “He’s a Rag Tickle,’’ Mrs Sharp; song, “If I Might f'oinc to I You,” Mr Topp; song and dance, ‘ ‘ Ih'ggy D Neill,” Miss Magee; song, *'Barefoot Trail,’’ Mr Green; song, “I Bove You, Sunday.'’ Miss Armstrong; song, “Mountain Lovers,’’ Mi - Bertie; rurtl at ion, “Napoleon,’’ Mr Desmond; song, “Sands of the Desert Grow I Cold,’’ Mi' Braid wood: duet, “That Dear Old Home of Mine.’’ Mrs Shari) and Miss Armstrong; song, “Sunshine of Your Smile,’’ Air Avery. The second half of the programme was given by the Cornstalk Minstrels, tile cornermen, Mr Topp and Mr Crumpton, being very comical : nd they had the audience at a high pitch throughout. Win, Josie,’’ Mrs Sharp; “hi the \ alley Where the Blue Birds Sing,” Mr Avery; “Oh, What a Difference 1 the Navv’s Made to Me,” Miss Magee; “Maryland,” Mr Topp; “I’ve Got a i Heart to Give Away,” Miss Armstrong; ,“Be:iitiful Birds, Sing On ” (with whis--1 tling efft’et), Mr Bertie; duet, “ Im* I Bells” (with bell accompaniment), Mesdames Rouse and Dirk; “I Brought the Coal,” Mr Crumpton; “I’laying the 01.1 Banjo,” Mrs Dick; “Song of the Light house Bell” (bass solo with full effects), Mr Roberts. By special request Mrs Sharp sang “Oh, by Gosh, by Jove, by Jingo.” Miss Wilby al.-!,.' ! accompanied the various items on the i piano, while Mr Thompson carried out 1 the duties of stage man: ger. All the items were* high-class, those ot Alls ' Sharp, Miss Armstrong and Mr Topp being specially applauded. Mr Paul Holmes sustained an injury to his hack the other evening while at work underground. We all join in wishing tin 1 popular Paul a speedy recover'. Air Fred Sandford, who has been on a holiday visit to the Homeland, has returned to Waiuta where he intends to reside. The League trial match on Sunday between the juniors and seniors resulted in a win for the latter by Id points l () hyp. 'Phe game was hard fought throughout, tlm tackling being vciv ! keen. Some new players were tried out I :iml will most probably Jimi a place 1 in the next Waiuta team.
