Afr Nichol, manager of the New ZeaI land Greenstone Company Ltd.. is at I present engaged dismantling some ma- I chin-ery at the company’s works at I Wainihinihi, on the t'iir;s, . hurch Road. Mrs Rodgers, of Brunnr.-. - as neon spending a few days with friends at Dilimanstown. The popular fori nightly euchre and danc-e, in aid of the funds of the local ■ Fire Brigade, attracted a good attend- | ance of pleasure seekers. The prizes kindly donated by Air Geo. Burger wore j I won by Miss IT. Hrim-cr. * The news of the death of Frank | Faulkner, the well-known horseman, ’ came as a great shock to his many ! friends and admirers. He was well and ' favourably known here, and general sympathy is extended to his widow and • children. Local enthusiasts held a Flower Show • on Saturday afternoon, there Dicing a I ! fairly large variety of exhibits. The i i lino assortment of chrysanthemums , | shown by Mrs J. Fitzgerald received : much favourable comment, while Air Spiers’ champion bloom* was much ad- ; mired. In the kitch-en Garden section, • the exhibit from the Old People’s Home ' held pride of place, both for the varj iety and splendid samples of all kinds ! of vegetables, and shows what systomat- ■ ic gardening can accomplish in spite of ' the long spell of unfavourable weather. • A concert was held in the evening and | | much •enjoyed by those present.
