TIMBER TRADE.
PRICE fixing ended. WELLINGTON, May 19. Au order-in-council is gazetted under which the portion of the timber trade j regulations that fixes the maximum ' prices is revoked. This means that 1 Government control of timber prices is •at an end. It was instituted when ( there was a shortage of timber, and j therefore, a lack of keenness in comI petition. Now ther is no shortage and 1 competition has revived. Under such 1 circumstances it is held that price regulation is unnecessary.
