Aliss Robinson, ALA., assistant mistress at Greymouth District High School, returns to the Coast this evening from Christchurch.

Aliss McLean (Tcssie) of the Seven Alilc Hotel, Rapahoc, was admitted to the Grey River Hospital on Wednesday suffering with a severe illness. Yesterday her conditions remained about the same.

Air Joo Harris, a wharf labourer met with a nasty accident to his hand yesteiday. He was engaged in loading the s.s. Orepuki when a- chain holding a sling slipped, jamming his hand, and inflicting a nasty cut. Several stitches were appli-ed and Air Harris will be off work for several days.

Air AV. AL Dunne, Inangahua County Inspector and Ranger, died at Recftoi Hospital on Thursday at the age of 48 years. He had been in poor health for some time, but only entered the. hospital on AVednesday. A native of Tasmania, he served at. the war as a tunneller in France, since when he had been under medical treatment through having been gassed. His wife died about eight years ago.

On AVednesday the wedding took place at Addison’s Flat, Buller, of Aliss AL AlcCann (youngest daughter of Airs T. AlcCann, of Addisons) and Air A. Dove (son of Airs Lee, of Westport). Rev. Father Bowe performed the ceremony while Aliss A. Lee (sister of the bridegroom) was bridesmaid, and Air F. AlcCann (brother of the bride) was best man.

An enjoyable evening was spent at Reefton when Air and Mrs A\ . Rivers entertained a number of friends to bid

“good-bye” to Air and Airs F. Rivers, of AVellington, who have been on a short visit to their parents, also to Miami Airs P. Lloyd, who are leaving to take up their residence in Christchurch, where they enter business at an early date. After an excellent programme of music and games and a dainty supper, the singing of Auld Lang Sync terminated the proceedings.

A AVest Coast pioneer, in the person of Air Janies Smythe, passed away on Thursday evening at his residence, 234 Kilmoro Street, Christchurch, at the ago of 50 years. The late Air Symthe, who had been a coal miner ,was well-known on the (Coast, particularly at Brunner, and Birchfield. He was noted as a good runner in the cany days, when he took a prominent part in sporh generally, while he was for some tiiic a member of the Groymouth AVatersi(Jois' Union. . Prior to his late illness, He was the AVestport Coal Company’s Torcman at their Christchurch yards, lie leaves a wife, a son and a daughter, while his father-in-lay (Air AVm. Sm’ith) and sister-in-law (Airs R. Cullen, of Freymouth) survive him.
