PETROL PRICES.
GO UP DESPITE SURPLUS. [A. and N. Z. Cable Association] ] WASHINGTON, May 13. | The Government intends to investi- ■ gate the reason for sx-veral increases in the price of petrol. During the past six weeks the prices have risen a cent weekly and petrol is now selling at 29 to 31. cents a. gallon. Tin- Department of the Interior says : that further increases amounting to five I cents are expected by the middle of June. Vast, surplus stocks make tin- : increase difficult to understand.
